We were only passing through Victoria very briefly, so weren’t doing justice to any of the beautiful places. If visiting the Dandenongs along, one could spend days exploring all the gardens and walks and beautiful drives. If you’re a garden fan allow lots of time here because in addition to all the famous gardens there seem to be lots of beautiful gardens dedicated to various people open to the public which look gorgeous. The William Rickett’s sanctuary is a tourist attraction where the sculpture’s of the now deceased William Rickett are scattered through the forest. Funny thing is I came here as a kid and remembered it as a cool kind of magical place. Coming here now as a clinician, I can’t help feel the guy had a few issues, and it seemed a bit creepy – but each to their own.
Even just the drives are beautiful, with gorgeous forest and rainforest everywhere. The Dandenong Botanic gardens were lovely and would be even more amazing in Rhodendron season.
