Our partner CMA is on the ground in Ukraine, delivering critical medical supplies directly to the people who need them — doctors, medics, and defenders who are working around the clock in harsh conditions.
Overnight, Ukraine endured one of its heaviest missile attacks in months, hitting critical energy infrastructure just as winter sets in. In cities like Mykolaiv and Odesa, lives were lost, many are injured, and power cuts are leaving communities vulnerable as temperatures drop.
Through mobile clinics, CMA’s dedicated teams reach villages near active conflict zones and recently liberated areas—places where hospitals are damaged or simply no longer accessible. Their doctors treat injuries, deliver essential medications, and provide health check-ups to people who otherwise have no access to medical care.
The Ukrainian Air Force shot down 74 drones, but the destruction was still devastating.
On November 7, Russia attacked Zaporizhzhia, taking the lives of a young mother, her one-year-old son, and her grandmother. Only a single family photo was left in the rubble—a heartbreaking reminder of the lives lost. Altogether, ten innocent people were killed that day.
On the night of Oct. 30, Russia attacked a residential neighborhood in Kharkiv, killing two children and injuring at least 34 others, as reported by Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov. It’s believed a high-explosive FAB-500 bomb was used.
On April 8, 2022, a Russian missile strike changed young Yana Stepanenko’s life in an instant.
October has been a tough month for Ukraine, with more attacks and lives affected. These photos capture moments of loss, strength, and the real need for medical help.
As Halloween decorations come down and life moves on, we want to pause and reflect on what “fear” means for Ukrainians today. While many enjoyed a night of spooky fun, Ukraine faces daily sirens, destruction, and an ongoing fight for survival. For them, fear isn’t just a holiday thrill—it’s a harsh reality they live with every day.
